The Botswana Society for Human Development (BSHD) NGO was founded in October 2013 and licensed by the Botswana government on March 10, 2014. In June 2014, BSHD became a Member of the Botswana Council of Non-Governmental Organisations (BOCONGO). The NGO was co-founded by a group of young women whom in December 2012 were selected by the Mpule Kwelagobe Institute to make up 40 of the young African females to take part in the Network of Women Investing in Africa (NEW Africa) Leadership Program. Since establishment, the NGO has a minor male membership and a number of registered volunteers.
To raise funds through collection, donation and /or subscription and other means legally possible, and ultimately invest the funds in providing basic necessities for the less fortunate.
Raise maternal health awareness in rural areas, run free inspirational talks meant to heal and inspire and help protect communities from societal impacts of alcohol, drugs, diseases, and needless urban migration.
To promote the arts industry in Botswana and up the literacy rate by cultivating a passion for books nationwide as well as raise funds and identify those from disadvantaged backgrounds then sponsor them to enroll for short skills courses.
To raise awareness and encourage implementation of environmentally friendly practices such as going green.
To propose and encourage water saving and water harvesting strategies in Botswana.
To make provisions that give Batswana, particularly elderly women, the chance to sustain themselves through agriculture and other farming activities.
